Boots, Baseball and The Pennsylvania Shuffle.

We woke up early on Saturday, and our friends made us a great breakfast. We then did something as a band that we never did before; we went to a little league baseball game. Our friends son was playing right up the road from the show. We all piled in the van and made a day out of it. It was good fun. The other team never showed up, and Noah joined as part of the parent team (in boots). You can see by this action shot that he really knows how to hustle.

Jam on the Creek was a great festival hidden in the mountains of central, PA. We played a fun ninety minute set, and got to hang with some new friends including Mark Karan from RatDog.

We quickly packed up and headed towards Philly to play The Legendary Dobbs. With Chitwood behind the wheel, being on time is of no concern. We made only one stop along the way grabbing a truck parking spot at a truck stop.

Fortunately, the Dobbs staff had reserved parking for us out front. We also used our newly borrowed parking cones (that now live in the trailer) to secure our parking further. These cones work magic in many parking situations. They even confuse parking authorities.

The show at Dobbs was a lot of fun. We all used the backline gear and Chitwood and Kelly played through half stacks. It wasn't exactly the Tele sound Kelly was looking for, but he pulled it off seamlessly. We hung out for a few short minutes afterwards, and hit the road back to Vermont. I took the first shift, and made it up to 87N. They should really pay you to use The Cross Bronx Expressway. Kelly and Chitwood finished the trip out. Another one done well.

High Volume, Secret Service Agents and Late Night Vinyl.

The show at Sullivan Hall was high energy and short lived. We played a 40 minute set and managed to encapsulate a variety of tunes and dynamics. It was great to see some old friends and get loud. Noah even made a new friend after running into Adam Levine in the lower west side. We never realized Noah was such a fan.

We ended up at the same familiar hotel in Tinton Falls, NJ. WS was still spray painted in the parking lot. It is comforting in some sick way when you show up at a hotel and you recognize the desk clerk, your wireless automatically connects and you know the area. I suppose it could be worse.

We left early for Washington DC, and got to Hill Country just before the rain hit. The storm passed and we loaded in. After a southern themed dinner, we took in some of the sites DC offers. We walked to the Capital Building, the Washington Monument (which was undergoing some renovations) and even followed the secret service to the gate of the White House. There is a good chance it was the president that was leaving as the streets were locked up tight by a fleet of government vehicles.

Chitwood took a moment at the 'reflection pool' in front of the capital building.

The Show at Hill Country was great. We revisited some old songs by request, and Kelly managed to knock the mic stand over and get wrapped up in the mic cable. When you don't have a slide handy, you use what you got. It happened to be the stand. It was a show well done if you ask me.

After a stay at another bizarre hotel room with a view of the parking garage, I watched a

guy eat more of the continental breakfast than I have ever seen. Frugal I suppose.

We left early for Pennsylvania and arrived to Lawnstock Music Festival right on time. The crew was very kind to us and we had a blast playing outside. We had a chance to spread our wings and let go of any club volume level concerns. This always offers some much needed freedom.

We stayed with our friends last night, and had a blast catching up, hanging with their kids and listening to Tom Petty and Kiss on vinyl. Today, we have a double-header. We play Jam Along the Creek with Terrapin Flyer and then head straight to Philly to play The Legendary Dobbs tonight at 11pm (and then an overnight back to Vermont).

Airwaves, Used Steppenwolf Shirts and Hotel Graves.

We left Vermont in the rain and headed towards Newburyport, MA to play on the Evolvement radio show. We needed a replacement roof vent for the trailer, but didn’t have the time to stop. We taped it up the best we could and made the trip. Upon arrival we realized Chitwood’s bag had served as a holding tank for the water coming in. Now, his only dry shirt is a gifted thrift store Steppenwolf shirt. “Better my bag than my guitars,” he said.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff of Evolvement Radio, set up and had some drinks provided by local sponsors. After a few short interviews, we played Livin’ and Until it All Ends acoustically. It sounded great and we can’t wait for you guys to hear it (including a new song that will be on the new album). It was a great warm up for the upcoming shows.

Evo Rad has a great thing going as an independent and globally syndicated radio show and we appreciate the opportunity to be involved. The show airs this Saturday. We’ll keep you posted.

Afterwards, we found a Best Western, and scored a room in the “back building”. The back building parking lot was peppered with used prophylactics and junk food wrappers. After holding the door for a mother of three hot boxing a cigarette, we quickly realized what was in our immediate future. We entered the room and were blasted with the smell of sweat in an overworked bathroom. After an early retirement, we woke up at 6:15am to two hotel staff members plunging the toilet while arguing with Chitwood in Spanish. Not the best start.

We stopped at an RV center and replaced the roof vent. We’re off to an early start to NYC. Tonight we play Sullivan Hall in the Village. So far, so good!

Speeding Down the Mountains.

We made into Clarksburg, WV in record timing with the Reverend driving.
We had the chance to setup early and fine-tune some gear. P.J. Kelly's offers the entertainment an apartment above the venue.

A cat lives in this apartment, and Noah and him didn't seem to get along too well. Good ole' fashion entertainment at it's best.

We played for two straight hours, and had a blast sifting through a wide range of songs and worked out some great improvisational moments. Kelly and I even switched up instruments. Because we both miss playing each respective instrument in bands, it was a great feeling.

We made the rather long trip down to Spindale, NC just outside of Asheville to play The Ultimate Basement. It felt as though we went through a wormhole when we got off the highway heading towards Spindale. There was an overwhelming saturation of churches and religious messages everywhere you looked. Not really our idea of a good time.

A sign on the wall of the venue said, "have fun and be loud". We did just that. We got real loud and had a blast for playing for a bunch of young skater kids. We made it out of the bible belt unscathed.

Afterwards, we headed towards Roanoke for the last show of the tour at Martin's. We arrived a bit early after a stop in Hickory, NC. We visited The Virginia Museum of Transportation and hit up the skatepark under the Wasena bridge.

What a great show to end the tour. The crowd, calling out songs like 'This City' and 'FUBAR', gave us a very warm welcome. We look forward to coming back real soon!

After a three hour set, we packed up and headed north. The overnight from Roanoke to Virginia was smooth. Chitwood was MVP for that drive. When you get him behind the wheel, he just doesn't stop!
